Seen on FM-Style: Cycle 16

It just didn't seem fair that we've had a whole new cycle at FM-Style and said no word about it here... I'm bringing you Cycle 16's most fashionable moments.

After our 5th Year Anniversary celebration with Cycle 15, where all tasks were selected from previous cycles, we went back to our regular way of functioning. We had 10 brand new tasks planned plus the semifinal and final for Cycle 16 and we were all ready to be impressed.

The cycle started with 16 contestants. Since we had had fewer auditions this time, we decided to let everybody in, and it was one of those quality over quantity situations, because the 16 participants of Cycle 16 were ALL really good. However, on the first task: You're So White, the one who impressed me the most was actually one of the judges: janetteLow.

The task was about creating a winter outfit using white jeans, which can be tricky and some might consider tacky, but between pearls and dots she managed to stay trendy and elegant.


Task 2: It's called "climate change", might have been the one that brought the most good outfits. There weren't many requirements, and maybe that helped, but how can you ignore all of these wonders?!

In order of appearance: amaia_estebanez (judge), Lawliet., janetteLow (judge), Serqet, Marta-43 (judge).

The contestants (and judges creating examples) were divided into two teams: WARM & COLD, and they had to stick to their teams when it comes to colour palette for creating the outfits.
On the ice cold side we have amaia_estebanez, Lawliet. and janetteLow, while on the super hot side we have Serqet and Marta-43. All of them made use of multiple layers and a wide variety of tones without getting out of their colour restriction team. Maybe that was the magic formula for the task because in my opinion these were definitely the best outfits.


I already talked and shared some Task 3: Face it, you sock, outfits HERE, so not going to repeat myself. In case you didn't guess it, it was about socks, same theme as the Shopping post I just linked. Obsessed much, Judith?


Task 4: Oh, this old thing?, took place right after the ceremony of the Oscars so we took that opportunity to make the contestants recreate some Academy Awards gala outfits into a street style stardoll version. It wasn't easy but...

In order of appearance: dobrapogoda, Marta32222.

They never disappoint.
Dobrapogoda's outfit was inspired by a pink tulle gown worn by Kacey Musgraves. She recreated perfectly the tulle frills and kept it casual by using sneakers and a more neutral colour.
Marta32222 emulated the Breakfast at Tiffany's elegance of Lady Gaga's look recreating her gown as a suit.
Both showed an amazing attention to detail with these looks, that without being the exact same thing, totally remind you of the original version.


Honestly, I love a good task involving colours so I made it Task 5's: You've been (colour)blocked from this cycle, main theme.

In order of appearance: Serqet, the_chuba.

Contestants had to create an outfit that looked good with a specific colour from a given list in the background and we can say that Pantone would be satisfied.
My favourites were the earth tones in Serqet's entry and the contrast between bright and matte colours in the_chuba's.


With Task 6: When you don't agree with the Terms & Conditions, we brought a little bit of humor to the competition. An opportunity to behave badly, to be crazy, or, as the task description explained, to be inappropriate. I'm not going to share the outfits, they shouldn't be put out of context because that is exactly what makes them fun, but you can check them all out (as well as all the other outfits for all the other tasks) in HERE.
Just to feed your curiosity a little bit I will say we saw both a very dark outfit for a bride and a white outfit for a wedding attendee.


Moving on... I never have been a sports fan but I reconsidered with Task 7: This year I'm quitting the gym. If I say outfits based on the specific gear for specific sports would you imagine something as cool as this?

In order of appearance: Marta-43 (judge), Marta32222, the_chuba.

Nope? Okay, that makes two of us.
Marta-43 with her sexy bra moment as a boxer, miss dressy skiing pants Marta32222 and the_chuba as a very professional basketball player, sponsorship by Pringles included, definitely made an impression.


But If I had to pick the most difficult task, or at least the most annoying, out of the whole cycle, the prize would definitely go to Task 8: Break up with your fav items, I'm bored. Mireia and I went through all the remaining contestants closets' last pages, the ones with all the items you never wear, looking for that hideous thing impossible to style and yes, we made them wear it.

And honestly, I was really impressed and extremely satisfied with all the entries, but these two were definitely among the best and they just looked so good together (hehehe).

In order of appearance: janetteLow (judge), Lawliet.

janetteLow and Lawliet., both managed to style a pair of hideous animal print leggings and a difficult zebra dress with yellow tones, high heels and mini-bags.

And if you liked Task 6, meet its relative, Task 9: Graduation starter pack, where we gave funny titles like: Most likely to become a "cool mum", interpreted and portrayed perfectly by our beloved judge Marta-43.

We're getting to the end of the cycle, last task before the semifinals in fact, so Task 10: Not your average influencer was not going to give the contestants a break. This time, they needed to make uninteresting and unattractive products desirable by accompanying them with the coolest outfit.

In order of appearance: dobrapogoda's, Lawliet.

And well, I absolutely hate pickles but have they always looked this slimy and cool or is it just dobrapogoda's outfit? And what about trashbags? I mean who know what's in the inside, but after seeing Lawliet.'s entry you can't deny they at least have an interesting appearance. No surprise they both ended up going into the semifinal, for which they had to create, as always, not one, but two outfits under the title I'm new collection, you're fifty percent off.

An outfit that belonged to the "new collection", meaning trendy, and an outfit that deserved a discount tag, meaning forgotten trends. The new collection one presented less difficulty but how to make the other one look not decent, but still amazing? Here I present you the answer.

marta32222's take on bohemian clothes is something that definitely reminds me of the past and that I wouldn't want to wear now, but I can't help looking at her outfit and still be impressed by it.

And so they were three: marta32222,  Lawliet. and dobrapogoda the three finalists of cycle 16, and in the Final: For the throne, they had to present us a year worth of fashion. 5 outfits, each of them representing a month in the calendar. 

For this final task it was more than just outfits though, the presentation of the task, theme followed and whole appeal of the five outfits as a group could make the difference between the winner and the finalists. And that's exactly what happened. Dobrapogoda's entry was the best as a whole even though that my favourite outfits were the ones that Lawliet. presented for July, April and September.

And with this, Cycle 16 ended, leaving us, as always, looking forward for more.

Spotted: the_chuba

the_chuba. You may have seen her on the weekly Seen on FM-Style posts, but here it is a gorgeous look out of the competition I caught Monika wearing when I came by her suite. And what is she wearing? Not only one, but two monthly HotBuys, and I love it so much. It's actually something similar to what I had in mind when it came the time to style the sweatshirt (the poll is coming tomorrow), but I wasn't able to do it. She did, and the final result is amazing. No wonder she is one of the finalists of Cycle 13. Totally deserved. Keep doing what you're doing Monika, we love your outfits!

For this task, the semifinalists had to create two looks for the Fashion Week that has just happened, Fall/Winter 17-18. They had to choose two shows they could attend, and they were all smart enough to choose one on the morning and one on the evening, as it was the easiest thing to do to have time to attend both being able to change clothes to do so. The clothes needed to be appropriate for the shows they were attending. And so, they all chose Paris Fashion Week, the most glamorous and prestigious fashion week of the world. 
I like to imagine this as if FM-Style was a fashion website that needed to cover the Fashion Week. Then we sent our best "reporters" and they have to play the part as well. So, on the 3rd of March, our girl Alicjia (alusiak123), attended the Loewe show at 9:30 am. Then she went for brunch with some business partners and went back to the hotel to get ready for the second show of the day she had to attend, Yohji Yamamoto, at 8:30 pm. She did a great job, in fact she was one of the best dressed between our collaborators, so we know for sure we want her for our next project. 

Letícia (leiona_-) arrived to Paris on the 4th of March, she went out for some cocktails with some other fashion celebs,  and then on the next day she was getting ready for Balenciaga at 10:30 am. After the show she went for lunch with her contacts in Givenchy, that later on carried her to the showroom of the brand, where she met and interviewed Riccardo Tisci. There she chose her look for the evening show, at 8:00 pm, and after that she went to the after party with all the other front-row people. Definitely she caught the eye of the photographers, so we want her as well for the next project.

Monika (the_chuba) arrived on the 5th of March, she did some shopping during the day, and went to the hotel early to prepare her outfits for the next day, as she had two shows to attend to. She prepared her outfits and got some beauty sleep. She got ready early in the morning and after a nice breakfast with some old fashion friends, she went to the Stella McCartney show, which was happening at 10:00 am, first show of the day. She went for lunch with Stella herself, and discussed some related to the future events and after that, she went back to the hotel to get ready for the second show: Alexander McQueen at 8:00 pm. Once the show had finished she had to go quickly as we were already demanding her for the next project.

Unfortunately, our 4th collaborator, Stefan (sweet_gal11) got other business thing to do, and couldn't attend as planned the shows of March 4th. As he seemed very busy, we decided to prescind from him for the next project. 
Okay, that's all. Yes, I invented a whole story for doing this recap, but as you may have guessed (or not) about the final sentence of each person, my favorites are in order: Alicja did a wonderful job, very professional which got her the highest score. Letícia did a great job as well, very fashionable and on trend, which got her the second position on this task. Finally, Monika did good, but not as surprising as the other girls, which got her the last position on this task. However, nothing is decided for the final, where our 3 final contestants will fight for the first position! 

But relax, we're going on vacation! 

Seen On FM-Style: Dilemma

And there were four. 

WE'RE IN THE SEMIFINALS!!!

Ok, let's go back a little bit. This past week the contestants had to deliver one outfit but mixing two opposite styles and then becoming semifinalists of Cycle 13 depended on how well they did it. No pressures. None at all.

I'm not going to wait till the end of the post to tell you who did not make it. I'm telling you now. Andrea did not submit her entry, so that leaves us already with the four semifinalists, and I'm going to present them to you in order of what I liked the most this week.

That said, our first semifinalist is...

Letícia! A.k.a leiona_-

With Fenty x Puma as inspiration Letícia delivered a perfect outfit mixing Elegant and Swag. As I told her in my feedback her outfit it's so well balanced that you can't even tell apart the elegant and swag even though you can clearly see how it fits both styles.

Our second semifinalist is...

Stefan! A.k.a Sweet_gal11

Stefan had what some judges considered one of the most difficult pair of opposite styles but he managed to succeed! He created this ABSOLUTELY beautiful dress with big sleeves that it's exotic in colours and pattern but super minimalistic in shape and ended the outfit with a great choice of accessories.

Our third semifinalist is... 

Monika! A.k.a The_chuba

Monika's take on Business woman & Sporty was based in a black and white outfit and the perfect mixing of brands. Vetements t-shirt, Adidas superstar sneakers, Louis Vuitton bag... Her doll looks fabulous in this office ensemble with just the perfect amount of sporty elements to make it comfortable fashionable.

And last but not least, our fourth semifinalist is...

Alicja! A.k.a alusiak123

On her mixture of Vintage & Trendy Alicja did an outfit inspired by Celine. Though the inspiration was a good reference for the two styles her outfit came out being more noticeable the vintage part instead of both equally. Still her outfit is really nice and her several entries throughout the cycle make her spot in the semifinal completely worth it.

Seen on FM-Style: Starving

I didn't know I was starving until I... joined FM-Style ;) 

Hello, hello everyone! And here we are again! Another week, another review on this blog about our favorite club: FM-Style. Am I allowed to say that...? Anyway, this time the task was very tasty. Why, you may ask? Because it was all about creating an outfit inspired by food. As always, they could not forget the fashion part and in my opinion, Judith submitted the perfect example. Just look at that red velvet cake and those red velvet boots. 😍😍😍

JUDITH'S EDIT: Wow that's really nice sis! Thanks for featuring my example! :) But what are you doing here? It was my turn to do the review... Well since you're so eager to do it I'm going to let you finish.

But we're not here to talk about Judith. Judith is always here. (JUDITH'S EDIT: I am. Literally) By the way, have you seen the last post she did? I loved it! And if you want her to do more of those you just have to show some love on the post. It's a "possible" new section called: Starcoin Treasures, and the first post is about dresses. Click here to see it. JUDITH'S EDIT: Wow so many compliments to Judith. I swear she didn't know I was going to edit this post with my comments!

But, back to the task, my total favorite this week has been Alicja (alusiak123) and her take on a Chinese take out box, creating the perfect outfit for representing it. Just look at all the detailing, the tattoos, the red clutch, even the chef shirt... Is like she paid attention to absolutely everything. Bravo! JUDITH'S EDIT: Alicja it's my favourite this week too! LOVE HER OUTFIT!

Then, next to Alicjia, we have Monika (the_chuba) and her take on cute pink food, like cotton candy and pink lemonade. She did a perfect background for the outfit and her outfit totally goes with it. Perfect for a fashion magazine as Judith (JUDITH'S EDIT: Today I'm EVERYWHERE!) pointed out in her judgement. Last but not least, another outfit that has been really liked from the judges is this one from Letícia (leiona_-). Instead of going for a food, she put herself in the position of a food seller, which is great, different and what is most important, she created a great outfit for it, that is what we value.  

JUDITH'S EDIT: Letícia and Monika were both in a tie for my second favourites this week.

 

And that it's all for today! This is getting closer to the end and now the level is high, so high that a little mistake can get you out. At this point of the competition is always sad to eliminate people, but what is a competition with no elimination? It can't be and the one who got the lowest score in this task was Beata (B.E.A.T.K.A) an amazing stylish girl... Is sad, but it's life (JUDITH'S EDIT: So saaaaad!!! 😭😭😭). Seen on FM-Style: Come Together

For this week tasks our contestants had to come together in pairs. For the first time in FM-Style we introduced team work and they had to agree with their partner in what to wear to present coordinated outfits, a.k.a what you're used to see in the SSS Street Style posts with Mireia and I only more perfectly matched and more thought out and incredible.

Nothing new guys, they didn't disappoint. In fact, I'm going to share everyone's outfits this time, since as they delivered the task in pairs there are only 4 tasks and therefore the post it's not going to be extremely long. And I'm going to share them from best to worst, obviously from my point of view. 

So, for me the winners of this task would be Beata (B.E.A.T.K.A) & Stefan (Sweet_gal11) with this amazing work.

I love their combination of the trench coat sleeveless jackets with puffy sleeves, keeping that the center of attention and combining it with simple yet effective elements. The outfits are not that complex, they don't have a lot of items or detailing, but they're the perfect evidence of how choosing the right elements and placing them carefully can take you to something genius! Plus the coordination here it's obvious but at the same time not literal, which would be picking the exact same items.

On the second place, according to my rating, we would find Whitney (strobarycake) & Alicja (alusiak123)!

They went for monochromatic outfits with strong detailing (hello gold jewellery!) and a minimal vibe. But what I love the most about their entry it's not their outfits, but their way of agreeing in what to do. If you have been following the cycle you must know that their styles are completely opposites!! And yet they managed to deliver coordinated outfits without loosing their own personality. I think that they were the team with the highest difficulty in terms of matching but that didn't stop them!

On third place of Judith's favourites we have Monika (The_Chuba) & Letícia (leiona_-) and their same pattern different piece.

I really like both of her outfits and I love how being of different styles they still look great with each other and coordinated. They paid a lot of attention to details and tried to incorporate the same elements in different shapes and styles in their outfits. Why are they in third place with such good work you may ask? Well, the same way I thought Whitney and Alicja had the highest difficulty at the time of coordinating their outfits I think that this pair had it easier to match, which obviously doesn't make their task bad only less impressive for me.

And finally we have Andrea (Andre1396) and Drew (modmayhem) with their white and red outfits.

Andrea and Drew did a good job with their outfits but I feel that out of the four teams they were the less coordinated between themselves. They only paid attention to the colour palette and forgot a little bit about pieces, style, detailing... I still love the suit Drew created and the red boots and their combination with that dress of Andrea, and I do think that maybe with a little bit more time their work would have been flawless. 

At the time of judging this task we gave a group mark to each pair and an individual mark for each of them, and the final mark was the average of those two. That put Beata in first place and Drew in the last. So, farewell Drew, you have an amazing style, I love your glam and trendyness but this cycle is rough and only one can be the winner. I hope to see you again in further cycles!

Seen on FM-Style: Message in a Bottle

We sent out 9 bottles for this task, each one with a different quote/message, and the contestants had to choose the one that suited them the most or the one that they wanted to portray in this past week task. 

Last week I was commenting on the topic of the new task how I was giving really high marks to everyone as all of the contestants were doing so good, this task I will have to repeat the same, and I am proudly confessing that the lowest mark I gave was a 7.5. So, having in mind that all of them did GREAT again, let's take a look at my favourites this week. 

The winners from my point of view were Monika (the_chuba) and Beata (B.E.A.T.K.A) with these incredible outfits.

Monika represented her quote "There's beauty in simplicity" perfectly with a simple outfit in matter of items and layering but that leaves you impressed and in love, and reminded us of the beauty part showing confidence with the no shirt situation and a beautiful but natural face.

Beata represented her quote "Stars can't shine without darkness" quite perfectly too, going for a cosmic printed transparent shirt/dress and combining it with an all black outfit. Her look breathes elegance, fineness and taste. Those tailored pants are the perfect match for the cosmic top and that clutch brings out the print even more.

My runner-ups would have to be Whitney (strobarycake) with a quote that seems made to herself: "I'm not weird, I am limited edition" and Stefan (Sweet_gall11) with a perfect representation of his style that is perfect for his quote: "You define you".

We have come to a point in the cycle were I know I will be terribly sad for who gets eliminated, as I think they are all so good, but the contestants are making it a little bit easier for us. Last week Elena was saying goodbye to the cycle voluntarily as she didn't have time to compete, this week Navi didn't complete the task in time, which saved us (the judges) to go through the trouble of eliminating someone. That leaves us with eight contestants who are getting closer and closer to the final.

So impressed I'm seeing double! ;)

Seen on FM-Style: Cell Phone Trap

This last week on FM-Style it was all about phone cases. As Judith wrote for the description of the task, smartphones are a very important part in our daily lives, and they have to play the part. That's why the contestants had to choose a phone case and create an outfit for it. I have to say that it was amazing to see everyone's entries, and it's certainly a strong cycle what we have in here! 
I want to say, that it's very difficult to judge when you have so many amazing entries, cause it's obvious that some have to be better and some have to be worse, but everyone has this details that you love and you don't know exactly which one you like most to give a higher mark. Luckily, we are an amazing team of 5 judges and it's really helpful as well to read what the other have said. That being said, let's get into the action and start talking about this Cell Phone Trap for the contestants.
For this task, the first thing was choosing the phone case. We didn't value which case they choose obviously, but that was a very important step. Is not the same styling depending which cases! I have to say that I'm very surprised with the final results, everything looked so good. But, I have to share with you my favorites, and these have to be... 

 

On the left, Monika (the_chuba). She did an outfit for this amazing case from Gucci, and for this task she was my total favorite, winning a perfect 10 for me cause I couldn't see anything I didn't like in her outfit. The addition of the snake was so cool, her outfit matches the vibe of the case, they are meant one for each other. I loved it. Then we have Stefan (Sweet_gal11) on the right, witch a very dangerous case from Dolce&Gabbana. Dangerous because it was difficult and dangerous cause he definitely went for it, but he did it amazingly! Final result? A beach outfit but ready for the streets with lots of accessories and the right colours. Amazing job! He took the risk and he succeeded, as he was the winner of the task! 

Then we have other amazing outfit that I loved, that also got excellent scores from me. This time I'm talking about Navi (vousme), Beata (B.E.A.T.K.A) and Andrea (Andre1396). They did it amazing as well, styling their Givenchy, Gucci and Dolce&Gabbana cases respectively. Navi surprised us with an amazing outfit minimal but with texture that went great with the all black case. Beata did the impossible styling an outfit in the same colours as her Gucci case, with all the necessary items. Andrea went for the same case as Stefan (without planning, her entries were only separated by less than an hour) and maybe it was the comparison who got her less points, cause her outfit was also incredible in my opinion.

I can't not mention though the work of Letícia (leiona_-). I didn't find too much the vibe of the case in her outfit, but OMG, those jeans she create are worth sharing: 

So yeah, basically this is everything for that task. Don't we have amazing contestants? I don't even know who would be my favorite to win the cycle! 

Luckily for the judges, the elimination part was easy. Elena (ElenaGao2) had to retire from the cycle for personal issues, so since the beginning we knew that there wouldn't be like a proper elimination this week. I know Elena is one talented girl that will go far in future cycles when she has the time to take part again.

Seen on FM-Style: Dark Times

You know what day is it today? Fine day Sunday, in my opinion best day of the week. Why is that? Because there's no post on Sundays? No, no, no... Cause it's time for news on FM-Style!! 🙌🏼
For the third task the contestants needed to deliver an outfit that went well with very dark lips, black preferable but any dark shade would do the trick. We're still on the beginning of the cycle, the task let them a lot of freedom to create easy outfits, but you know what our contestants are? (Fergie starts singing) G-L-A-M-O-R.... oh no! I didn't meant that sorry... 😅  TALENTED! (Mireia starts singing) T-A-L-E-N-T-E-D
There have been so many good outfits in my opinion in this task. I think that personally, for this 13th Cycle, this has been the task where I have given the most higher scores. Let me share with you what have been my favorite entries for these Dark Times. I can't decide for A winner, but I can tell you why I have loved this outfits: 

 

Letícia (leiona_-) on the left. She was the first one to deliver the task, and when I saw it I was speechless. 😮 The first one, and what a potential! I instantly got excited! This outfit for me is pure perfection, the classy Gucci items mixed with those great sporty vibes... super cool. The hairstyle and the choker are the perfect finish to the outfit.
Then we have Andrea (Andre1396) on the right. She bring us this Parisian lady vibe mixed with great punk/rock items, a lady that has gone to the "dark side", on the "dark times" 😏. Perfect interpretation, the black lips look super gorgeous in here and there's nothing I would change. 

And then, there are these ones, that also left me amazed of what you can do with black lipstick.

  

First we have Monika (the_chuba) and Stefan (Sweet_gal11) with grey, black and white outfits. Both are a bit masculine and sporty, and I love both VERY VERY much, specially the one Monika delivered. It's perfect and the black lips are definitely the center of the outfit.   And then Alicja (alusiak123) delivered her outfit, and again she created something very original and different that was perfect for the task, with layers, elegance and edginess all in one outfit.  If you want to see the rest of the outfits or tell us your opinion on the task, check the Imgur Album where we post EVERY entry. 

Cycle 13

Finally, not everything is good news. It's so funny and cool to talk about people that has done it so amazing, but it wouldn't be a contest if it wouldn't be a winner. And, in order to do that, we have to eliminate people at the same time we move on into the next task. This time Leigh (leighways) got the lowest score, and she's the one we have to say goodbye to. It's a little sad, cause she got computer issues that difficulted the realization of the task, but sometimes... life happens. Hope to see you soon in another cycle Leigh, where you can show us all your talent.
