Seen on FM-Style: When The Sun Goes Down

Here we are back again with the review of the final of Cycle 14, the first Team Cycle ever hosted (that I know of). If you're up to date with us in Stardoll, you may have noticed that Cycle 15 is already accepting applications. If you didn't know that, now you know, so don't wait any longer and join the stardoll club: FM-Style, and once in there... If you think you have what it takes to be a part of the competition, APPLY on the topic.

Cycle 15 is a cycle to celebrate the 5th Anniversary  of the club. It's amazing (and a bit terrfying) how fast time goes by. As we have done a huge amount of different tasks, for this celebration (besides sponsoring the cycle ourselves) we are taking one task for each cycle that we've done before. Those tasks are our favorites or the ones that our club members suggested. There will be 16 contestants chosen for this Cycle and will last if everything goes right until the end of June.

That being said...

Welcome to the first ever #TeamCycle !

Task 10: When The Sun Goes Down (FINAL)
So, in case you haven’t noticed, we’re in the final. There’s a theme for this final but this theme it’s quite open, the concept you go for and creativity have a lot of importance in this task, so I would recommend putting a lot of though in what’s behind the final picture you deliver before creating the outfits.

That said, the theme and title of this task is “When the sun goes down”, meaning you have to create outfits related to the world of the night. As you can see there are a lot of possible approaches: party, concerts, drugs, galas and events, night jobs, etc. As a team you have to decide what are you going to do about it (a story behind the picture, everybody representing the same aspect, each team member representing a different thing all related to the theme…). Complete freedom, but make sure it’s cool, it has a meaning and that meaning is understandable. A proper photoshoot with all the prep and ideas behind it included.

Minimum outfits: 2 (1 each team member)

Maximum outfits: 6 (3 each team member)

Inspiration Album:

For us, this task required being original and delivering something different at the same time that fashion forward and even a bit editorial-ish (just look at the picture from the inspo). Usually, inspiration albums are not just picture to get you inspired but something similar to what are we looking for. We were really looking forward for the final entries of this two powerful teams that were SHADES and Sarcasm. And what they were going to do was what was going to be decisive in who will win the cycle and get crowned as THE winning team.

Those were the entries from the finalists with the score they got next to their name:

1. SHADES - 8.81

2.  Sarcasm. - 7.50

SHADES were super original with the theme and went for representing drugs that are usually consumed at night. Each member of shades created 3 outfits, delivering the maximum amount of outfits allowed, and their creations represented the stages of the consumption of two different drugs. Patricia (ManiakPupili) based her outfits on LSD and Fede (FedericoMosi) on cocaine.
On the other team, Sarcasm.'s theme was more simple, representing a squad going out. Outfits were very modern and well put together, but I think the simplicity of the theme behind it compared to all the work and creativity that SHADES delivered was what made that SHADES were declared winners of Cycle 14!

This was a super fun cycle to watch but more difficult to organize. We had to create a new figure, the coach, that was handling various teams to help teams to deliver the final entry giving advice without interfering and having in mind the deadlines. They had to make sure their teams were getting along fine and working on the tasks since the beginning, as when you work in a group you can't depend only on yourself and do it last minute. Despite the nerves and stress that this cycle cause, specially to contestants (we seriously apologized for that), I think it has showed how powerful team outfits are and that even if it is a bit hard at the beginning, working in teams can increase the creativity.

We already gave huge thanks to everyone involved in this cycle, whether you've been a contestants, judge, coach or even if you just followed the cycle. THANK YOU! FM-Style would not be happening if there weren't people committed to it.

Don't forget to join FM-Style if you haven't yet! 🖤
And remember... Applications for Cycle 15 are open !!

Seen on FM-Style: The Feminist Club

Well hello there once again!
It's your OG sister (cause I was born first basically): Mireia. Right now we have a weekend off FM-Style as we're in the final, which consists in a two weeks deadline. So, as we're waiting for the fortunate and talented finalists to complete their entries, I'm gonna continue doing the recaps.

For task 7 we wanted the feminist vibe to be present, and we kinda did en educational task, for contestants to be creative and do research on feminism. As Judith mentioned on last review, at this point of the team cycle there was no score board, instead, the one who got the less amount of points from judges leave the competition at the end of the week. Continue reading to find out the task, what they did and who got out!

If you want to follow the cycle closely you will need to join the club FM-Style on Stardoll. To show you a little of what's going on in case you don't know the fashion competitions we host there on the club, this time we have a special cycle (Cycle 14 omg, we're getting old). We got to 600 members, and to celebrate that we're hosting a team cycle, meaning contestants don't take part individually but in teams, forcing them to work together and deliver kind of coordinated entries.

Welcome to the first ever #TeamCycle !

Task 7: The Feminist Club
3 tasks left girls. Things are getting more and more exciting. Forget about the street style rule! From now on, think EDITORIAL. The three tasks left will need of your creative skills and abilities to think beyond the outfit. But let’s not get ahead. Task 7 first.

For this task we are going to give you several photoshoot titles, all of them related with feminism. You must create three outfits for that title.

The way you decide to portray it, coordination or not, it’s completely up to you but as you already know the final picture must look good. If it’s needed you can write a group description explaining the concept or reasons behind your decisions in the task, so the judges can see exactly what you’re seeing.

That said, here are your titles. Pick one and state it in the task’s topic, each team must do a different one so first come, first serve.

TITLES:
- Girls just want to have fun
- Pink Ghetto
- Superwomen
- Goddess 2.0
- Breaking the glass ceiling

Inspiration Album: N/A

As we did not have tittles for judges, we did not post any judges' examples on this task. However, as Judith and myself are special, the Stylish Stardoll Sisters after all, we've done our own version. After the judging was done and everything. We decided to portray Pink Guetto, playing with the literal tittle and so adding guetto vibes to the outfits and the background, adding pink in all the outfits, but still keep them feminine and powerful.

And this is what the teams represented, together with the score they got for this task:

1. Team KAL "Pink Guetto" - 8.25

2. SHADES "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" - 9.15

3. MAC Team "Superwomen" - 6.55

4.  The Flaming Jalapeño Gang "Goddess 2.0" - 8.94

5. Sarcasm. - 8.01

For this task, I was somehow expecting more. Not better outfits, cause those entries are filled with them, but more meaning to the task, more feminism concepts involved in everyone's descriptions. They did it, I'm not complaining, but I was hoping for MORE. Here goes my favorites:

- First place has to go to SHADES. Their concept was not very original and different and deep, but the outfits and coordination they showed in the entry was amazing. Beata, Federico and Patricia got the 80s vibe they were going for, and I love the use of colours, very different from what we're used to see.

- The second place in my favorites goes to The Flaming Jalapeño Gang. They did their research as well but focusing on different goddesses from different cultures and they put those amazing gowns into the middle of the city which gives an amazing 2.0 feeling. Definitely, WhitneyLucia and Kelly are true style goddesses.

- And third place is for having in mind that thing I mentioned before, the deep concept. I loved how my own team Team KAL constructed their outfits from items that represented their ideals.  Ana and Kat did great. This is what I'm talking about taken out from their task description --> [...] The chains, belts and other restricting items were to represent the restrictive nature of pink ghetto, noticing that yet women still do not have full control of their occupations and how they are to be interpreted. [...] The colour silver as a motif to being  “second” and "inferior" in the working and societal class due to pink ghetto jobs and women being pigeonholed into the same “nurturing” and “fragile-minded” stereotype. This also ties in with the professional styled clothing as a signal for being ready for business, being ready to take on business and not having to throw away femininity, which is emphasized through the use of traditionally feminine items such as the colour pink, handbags and heels.

As the judging was not ready for Sunday, we decided to put out there Task 8 anyway, without feedback and scores. Like that, there was no possible elimination, so we announced what they all feared: double elimination for task 8. The results would be combined from Task 7 and Task 8, and the two groups with less points on these two tasks would be out.

Seen on FM-Style: Ménage à trois

Hello! Stylish Stardoll Sister #1 here!
I'm here once again to bring you the recap for Task 5. I also wanted to inform you that due to another deadline extension I think we're gonna finally catch up with the real cycle going on! Happy news for an organization maniac like me.

That being said, in this task there were some irregularities and drop outs, like in all the rest. One of the stylish girls in Team SHADES delivered this task as her last contribution to the team. Yes, Natalia (a.k.a. Lawliet.) left. And she was not the only one! We had some drop outs in another team as well... A Team with No Name, slowly became A Team with Almost No Members, and Patricia (a.k.a. ManiakPupili) was left alone. However she still delivered a triple task, and as a reorganization, she became part of SHADES (that was left with 2 members) at the end of this task, still with the great Leticia (leiona_-) as their coach.

Task 5: Ménage à trois

We've already seen the importance of COLOURS in this first four tasks. Well, we're about to give them even more importance, cause they are now the theme of task 5.

Each team must agree on three completely different colours, you CANNOT pick different shades of the same one. So, for example, light blue and navy blue or even black, white and grey won't be accepted in the same selection of colours. Each team member will later create an outfit using those three colours.

You are also allowed to use other colours in the outfit, not just the ones you selected, but CAREFUL! It must be visible which three colours you picked, they need to be the main focus, they have to stand out among the others. The other colours would be just for details or combination.

Also remember that after this tasks the elimination round will start, so give your best and try to make that team score as high as possible.

This time again, only one of the sisters did the example for the contestants, the other one was having fun in Valencia. That's what the devote working sister Mireia did with blue, yellow & white:

You can find all the cycle entries and examples from ALL the judges (not only us) on the Official Cycle 14 Imgur Album <-- click here to get there

And now, what the teams presented together with they score they got from the judges:

1. SHADES - 8.40

2. The Flaming Jalapeño Gang - 6.66

3. The Hex Girls - 7.55

4. Team KAL - 7.73

5. Sarcasm. - 8.30

6. A Team with No Name - 8.80

7. MAC TEAM - 7.61

My personal favorites for this ménage à trois were:

-  In the first place we have... A Team with No Name! I highly value Patricia continuing with the cycle even when her Polish mates left. She delivered an entry with three outfits made by herself perfectly coordinated, and what I liked most, with gold as one of the main colours and not just an accessory. Her entry ended up being cute and nice with the blue and pink pastel, but glam at the same time with the incorporation of gold.

- The second place has to be... Sarcasm.! This has been my favorite entry coming from them in this cycle. The coordination between Jane, Samantha and Aniyah is amazing, the outfits are so cool and badass. Very strong individual outfits and at the same time so strong together. I would have never thought I would like black combined with navy blue, but here with the orange in the middle looks perfect, hence the importance of adding colours.

- And for the third place... SHADES! Is not a surprise to see Natalia, Federico and Beata here in the podium again, but is that colour combination what I love most about them. Instead of going for basic plain colours  they choose burgundy, mixed with orange and navy blue, all strong dark colours, that mixed together looked amazing. Their usual high class outfits were great once again.

Seen on FM-Style: Front Row

Hello again! Today the review for the third task of FM-Style's Cycle 14 arrives!
As I'm writing this, we are on a week break from the cycle. Contestants are having almost two weeks instead of one to deliver Task 6. And while they were working on their outfits... I was creating something else... a brand new blog for Inspiration Albums! I used a Tumblr, cause it's very useful for photography and I quite love the final result. I hope contestants like it too!

Here it is.... FM-Style Inspiration !
This is a little preview of how it looks like now (denim blue jeans, white shirts and little black dresses is the theme for Task 6 as you will see in some future posts):

That being said, let's jump to what is more important... the review.

Task 3: Front Row

Look for your best clothes and your more original statement pieces cause for this week you're all attending fashion week. You already know how the street style out of a fashion show is, if you want to stand out you have to be BOLD.

Luckily, you will be accompanied by your team mates. Coordination or not is your choice but you and your team are ATTENDING TOGETHER and with the goal of looking the best.

The Stylish Stardoll Sisters tried to show some examples to the contestants:

Unluckily for the cycle, the team Trinity disappeared from the scene and didn't present anything, being 8 teams left. They delivered the next, with their respective scores:

1. SHADES - 8.50

2. The Flaming Jalapeño Gang - 7.49

3. The Hex Girls - 7.81

4. Team KAL - 7.62

5. Sarcasm. - 8.19

6. A Team with No Name - 8.00

7. MAC Team - 5.17

8. Just Team 9 - 6.84

I have to say that I was expecting so much more from this task. I don't know if my expectations were to  high, but there was not really a team that make me say WOW. And this time my 3 favorites were, in order:

- SHADES. I like how each member of the team is doing her own thing with their own colour, but at the same time they look very good together. That's what Judith meant when she said "coordination is optional but you have to look good together".  They are my favorite team for this task.

- Then we have The Hex Girls. I really love the outfit they made, but that presentation is hurting my eyes so bad. Leaving that behind, their outfits are my second favorite. I just love fur and how they are all incorporating it in their own style and in different items.

- For the third position I have a very complicated decision and I've been debating it for a while, but since I can't decide I will mention everyone: Team KAL, The Flaming Jalapeño Gang & A Team with No Name. Each of these teams have bold outfits very fashion week material, and they are pretty much coordinated. Even I don't think they are perfect, I can't decide for one better than the other. So this is triple tie for that third position. And no, I'm not having preferences over my teams. At least I try not to.

Seen on FM-Style: Basic Bitch

Hello again and welcome to the review of the 2nd Task of Cycle 14!
Apparently Judith was feeling so bad for not helping me write these reviews that she decided to upgrade the banner I had created. Well, thank you Judith, for ALL your help... 😒

Jokes apart, I really like Judith's creation. Before getting into the topic I apologize for those sensitive ears (or eyes in this case) for the tittle of task 2. And why I'm taking all this time to write the intro? I don't know...

Let me stop with the boring chit chat and let's go right into the business.

Task 2: Basic Bitch

How did task 1 go? Did you agree easily on everything? Cause here comes another decision to make together! This time you have to pick one item of the BASICS store in Starplaza (any collection, only condition: it has to still be available) per team, and each member will create a different outfit with it. Coordination or not coordination it's up to you, whatever you think looks best for when you deliver your team task.

Make sure to state in the task topic which item from BASICS are you picking once you've decided. Two or more teams can use the same item (repetition it's allowed) but you expose yourselves to be compared at the time of judging, so better if everyone knows which item is everyone doing.

Inspiration Album: N/A

This is what the Stylish Stardoll Sisters presented as examples for the contestants:

I don't know why I didn't think about that before, but together with each team entry I'm adding the score they got from the judges, so you can judge yourselves as well, and decide if it's fair or not and that kinda stuff (you can comment your thoughts on a section down below called: "comments"). I added the scores on the previous task as well (Seen on FM-Style: This Is Us). But well, this is what the 9 teams presented (click on the images for full-size)

1. The Trinity - 9.88

2. SHADES - 8.25

3. The Flaming Jalapeño Gang - 9.33

4. The Hex Girls - 8.08

5. Team KAL - 7.08

6. Sarcasm. - 6.50

7. A Team with No Name - 9.58

8. MAC Team - 7.08

9. Just Team 9 - 6.83

Time for favorites!

- The Trinity totally surprised us with those primary colours mixed with grey, delivering super coordinated and vintage elegant vibe outfits for what resembled an easy task. Amazing work!

- Then we have The Flaming Jalapeño Gang with their flamenco vibes in red and black, and choosing a bold item to coordinated themselves with instead of a basic piece, like all the rest did. Kudos!

- And finally, A Team with No Name, with black, white and blue and super original shapes, creating new pieces and resulting in super original and edgy outfits.

See you on the next post about Task 3!
and... join FM-Style! 😉

(Judith almost kills me last time for not using this FM-Style banner, I'm safe now)
