And just like that we arrived to the final task of Cycle 11 on FM-Style. This last task was as connected to Mireia and I (and this blog) as possible so we decided to put this song (our song), with the word sister in it, as its soundtrack. The task consisted in picking five trends that had appeared throughout the FW 15/16 Surrounded by Trends and creating an outfit for each one of it.
Lucia and Rawan(the two finalists) both deliverd, as always, fantastic outfits. I particularly liked their Mod outfits. I loved them both, so loyal to the style and so beautiful at the same time.
I personally liked a lot as well the Sporty outfit of Rawan. She created black and white tracksuit pants mixing two different pieces and in my opinion looks so original and refreshing. Also, her take on the victorian blouse was praised by the judges, just the perfect vintage outfit for the current days.
Finally, the last outfit I'm sharing on this post that took my attention it's the 80's fashion byLucia. She took a risk and succeeded with a wonderful outfit I loved.
In the end both of them were pretty close (only 0.5 of difference), but the perfect attention to details and the originality of Rawan, it's, in my opinion, what made the difference.
And just like that Rawan became the winner of Cycle 11 on FM-Style. Congratulations!
Semifinal... Do you know what that means? More work. Two outfits instead of one. For Killing the Lights, the few remaining contestants had to create two outfits with a common item. The first one had to be editorial-like, very outstanding, very fashionable and extravagant. The second instead, using the same item (not accessory) had to be wearable on the street.
For this task we received really different entries. I wanted to post my favorite of the editorial and my favorite of the street style outfit. Casually they are both from the same contestant, Rawan (bornthiswaay) who got in the first position again.
The ones who got eliminated (as only two can go to the final) were Stefan (sweet_gal11) and Teresa (platinumgals), who wasn't able to submit her entry.
It's very sad to see them go, but now we have our two finalists!!
Only 4 contestants left and the opportunity for one of the already eliminated ones to comeback to the cycle, this is what was happening in task 10 at FM-Style. Any contestant that had been selected at the beginning of the cycle could participate in this task and the one who got the best mark would became contestant again. The task: creating one more catwalk look for the Spring Summer 2016 Gucci's collection.
And the one who left me with my mouth open for quite a while was one of the eliminated contestants. Stefan (sweet_gal11) came back strong! He delighted us with this amazing outfit that brought him back to the competition! (applause)
Rawan (bornthiswaay) and Teresa (platinumgals) didn't let us down and continued to bring us beautiful outfits.
And task 10 ended, saying goodbye to the lovely Glimmer (CoralCool91) who got the lowest mark this time and welcoming back Stefan! We're already on the semifinal that will have a double elimination and in two weeks we will know the winner of cycle 11. Who will it be?
For Task 9 we did something that we never did before. Judith wrote a text about a fictional character and the contestants had to interpret the text and create an outfit appropriate for that person. Here's the text:
"You could tell without knowing her that she was a confident independent woman. She walked everywhere like she owned the floor she was stepping on. She had never been an insecure person, she had never worried about others opinion. She didn’t have to pretend because she already fitted in. Her arrogance, her snobbishness, her pride emanated from every pore in her skin while a deep desire of disconnecting from her hectic life popped a little big through her clothes choice. She was who she was, and for an unknown reason people seemed to like her."
And then, for all the judges to have in mind the same idea, she also wrote some guidelines for them. However, contestants could write a different description as long as it matched the character. Here are the guidelines:
- “deep desire of disconnecting from her hectic life” = Little exotic details (feathers, jewelry, something ethnic, something related to nature…)
- “people seemed to like her” , “She didn’t have to pretend because she already fitted in" = Nothing too strange or extravagant, her clothes and appearance has to be likeable for the general public.
- “Her arrongance, her snobbishness, her pride emanated from every pore in her skin” = Elegant and luxury clothes.
- “she had never worried about others opinion” = Outfit with personality, nothing too common.
- “confident independent woman” = Adult’s clothes (avoid backpacks, converse sneakers…) and that shows self-assurance.
And after all this long introduction, 4 contestants did this task, but my favorites have been...
Even the 2 outfits together look good, like they are exactly on the same street!
We have Rawan (bornthiswaay) on the left, with a perfect outfit that described exactly the characteristics, but for me was a little too classy and was missing something more special, more exotic. That was the factor that made Teresa's (platinumgals) outfit my favorite. As I said on the feedback I wrote to her, for this task I was looking for this "I'm perfect without trying" look, and I think she totally made it. Looks like she just picked some items from her wardrobe put them all together and then tied her hair and added some red lipstick and ready to go. I just love it!
Unfortunately, Felipe (yulissahermosa) decided to focus on other things besides Stardoll, so he dropped out of the cycle. As one contestant was already out, there was no other elimination besides him.
Task 8 was tricky. You could feel the difficulty when Saturday arrived and only one of our contestants had delivered their task. We gave them an album with pictures of different artists performing on stage and what they had to do is pick one and recreate it but with a little twist that could be worn on the streets, that means reduce a little bit the extravagance of most of the outfits.
In the end, with a little bit of delay, 5 out of 7 contestants delivered their tasks and as always they brought us beautiful outfits that I'm about to share.
To be honest the marks I gave this time were all very high, all of them above 8, so I had a lot of trouble picking the outfits I would share with you here. The one I had clear was the one Lucia (roco_90) delivered. Second time on a row that she is between my favourites, she's doing well!
This is an almost perfect representation of how Taylor Swift's outfit would look on the streets. I loved it!
And as my second favourites I decided to pick two very different outfits.
On one hand we've got Rawan (bornthiswaay) who did an amazing job at recreating Britney Spear's outfit as it was the most difficult artist of the whole album. On the other hand we've got exactly the opposite, Teresa (platinumgals) with an amazing outfit which was easier to represent. Both are great and deserved to be here anyway!
This time, even though we were supposedly having a double elimination it wasn't hard for us, the contestants saved us the trouble, as two of them did not complete it. And like that, there were only 5 left...
I'm not a big fan of this song but as we used Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood (my favourite band) for the first task I felt like I had to let Mireia use this one by her favourite band (McFly).
MIREIA's edit: Yes, McFly indeed... Even if they team up with Busted resulting in this song. -_-
Anyway, the task consisted in creating an outfit suitable for both fashion week and attending to it riding a bike. The task allowed a lot of freedom at the time of creating the outfit, as in the inspiration album we included pictures of girls riding bikes in heels, dresses, skirts... so there were very few items that couldn't be used.
I'm not sure if it's easier to amaze us with more freedom or under strict rules because with our amazing contestants there are always amazing entries, no matter if the task is difficult, free or crazy. That's why I was delighted whit these three entries.
Lucia (roco_90) delivered a very trendy outfit using denim flares with the perfect selection of accessories. I'm talking bag, belt, cap, necklace... All that plus the original touch of the fringed best brought her to my top 3 and also third position in task 7's official marks.
Teresa (platinumgals) won again the task with a really high mark (9,9)! So impressive! Her outfit was so neat and beautiful. A little bit inspired in menswear with a perfect combination of colours and very nice selection of accessories as well. I'm afraid to say that I'm guilty of that 9,9 cause I'm the only judge that didn't give her a 10 for her outfit. And at the same time, I guess that Nessa (MissAngelFace.) is guilty of that, because she melted my heart with her outfit and I had to give her a better mark.
Her outfit was for me the perfect balance between originality, trendy and comfortable and of course she was my favourite this week!
Congratulations to the three of them for such great stylings!
Sadly at this point of the competition no one is safe and we had to say goodbye to Giudy (giudyziamia97) who got eliminated.
Next task is really interesting in my opinion and I'm already excited and nervous to see what surely will be marvelous entries. However, at the end of the week we will be saying goodbye not to one but two of our great contestants as we're approaching the end and there is another double elimination. The cycle gets harder and harder and every time more exciting. Enjoy and follow the journey with us!
For Task 6 the objective was creating an outfit that a male could wear. That means no high heels and looks with a hint of commodity. Our contestants did a great job, but I have my personal favorites.
In this task I was expecting more sporty outfits, and that's why this outfit on the left from Janette (janetteLow) surprised me. She went for a classic look but with a really modern touch. On the other side, we have Rawan (bornthiswaay), who did it again and won the task. The outfit she delivered is in fact super manly, original and super appropriate for a men's fashion week.
Sadly, there's always someone who has to be eliminated, and this time the one was Stefan (sweet_gal11). It's really hard when there's a point on the cycle where you know you're eliminating contestants that could be winning the cycle. What comforts me though, is thinking that maybe we have them again in further cycles!
Task 5 was all about luxe and sparkle, being jewelry the main focus of the outfits our contestants had to deliver. Some of them weren't really into jewelry but that didn't get in the way at the time of, as always delight us with fantastic outfits.
Now, moving on to present my personal favourites of this task.
For proving that small and simple jewelry can make an outfit stand out... Teresa (platinumgals)!!!
For being a master in using jewelry in a different and original way... Janette (janetteLow)!!!
And last but not least, for adding colour in the most exquisite way possible... Giudy (giudyziamia97)!!!
Very sadly this week we have to say goodbye to the unique style of Maurice (kickherout), she risked it and made the task according to her own interpretation, sometimes this ends up in a high mark sometimes ends up in confusion and therefore elimination. We will miss your outfits!
For Task 4 on FM-Style, our dear contestants had to create an outfit appropriate for a funeral with only one rule imposed by us: BLACK. They only had to use black in their outfits. Even if it was not written, I was expecting "respectful" outfits, not too revealing and at the same time, they had to surprise me with something different, not a basic black outfit.
That's the reason why this week I let myself be carried away by my first reaction when I saw the outfits. And my two favorite outfits, and the two that have won a 10 from me in this task are:
On one hand, I love the elegancy of Teresa's outfit (platinumgals) on the left and the story behind the outfit. Quoting her description: "Playing the role of the weird granddaughter who went on to be an artist and might or might not have joined some kind of a cult". I love how the story fits her outfit, and all the details as the gloves, the white roses or the black choker. On the other hand, Stefan (sweet_gal11) on the right is rocking an all black outfit that even if it is super simple, just a black dress, sandals and a bag, behind it there's A LOT of layering. The final result is this great shaping that looks minimalistic but serious and elegant all in once, and with a hint of a sporty touch that I love. That's it, those were my favorites.
I would also like to mention the outfit of Rawan (bornthiswaay). It was also an amazing outfit and she was the winner of the task. Her outfit is so detailed which makes it so cool and at the same time has this "old" feeling that I love. Definitely she deserved the first place (again). Congratulations to her!
For this task, there was a double elimination as I had previously announced. One of the contestants did not complete, which make it easier for us, because there was a tie for the second person that has to be eliminated. Sadly though, we say goodbye to Line (missmurron), whose outfit was not good enough to stay on the competition. Here's the Contestants Board with the ones that still remain, and make sure to check the blog next Sunday, for Judith's favorites of Task 5.
Swedish street style was the inspiration for Task 3 in FM-Style. Minimalism, simplicity and coolness were some clue words for nailing the outfits of this task. Our talented contestants got the idea right and submitted really good entries. I have to say that I enjoyed all their tasks and was surprised that all of them had been so good. But of course, as always, there's always some people that stands out.
First of all, as a special mention, I would like to congratulate the effort and progress of Glimmer (CoralCool91), who has already been in two cycles and we have been witnesses of the evolution of her style. With only 14 years old she already does outfits like this one (inspired by the Swedish street style for task 3).
Another outfit, that I really liked, and the other judges liked too as she end up second best, was the one by Felipe (yulissahermosa). She portrayed the Swedish look perfectly with a really stylish outfit.
And finally, winner of the task, and the one who left me with my mouth open, the one who got not one but two 10's for the task (including mine of course): Rawan a.k.a bornthiswaay. She delivered a perfect minimalist outfit, original and with amazing layering. Congratulations! Definitely my favourite in this task.
Moving on to the sad part we had to say goodbye to Navi (vousme) who got eliminated. And talking about eliminations, next week there's a double elimination! The pressure's on so I'm sure we will see amazing outfits again, make sure to check the blog next Sunday to see Mireia's personal task 4 favourites, hope you have enjoyed mines! ;)
